Police: Marijuana found after 64-year-old NH woman refuses welfare check at American Legion

PLAISTOW — Police found marijuana in a 64-year-old woman's purse after she allegedly refused a welfare check.

Police received a call to check the welfare of a person at the American Legion Hall, 176 Main St., Plaistow, on Monday around 2:24 a.m.

Upon arrival, police found Susan E. Pearsons of Plaistow and others in the hall. Pearsons appeared to be intoxicated, Police Chief Kathleen Jones said.

Police took Pearsons into protective custody after she refused a medical check by rescue personnel, Jones said. Police then allegedly found a bag of marijuana in Pearsons' purse.

Police served Pearsons a summons to appear in court April 28.
