MANCHESTER — A Manchester officer was at fault for a car crash while responding to an emergency call, police said.

Officer Kyle Daly, 29, activated his emergency lights as he proceeded through the intersection on Chestnut Street at Lake Avenue Tuesday at about 9 p.m.

Daly had a red traffic signal, so he slowed the cruiser to check for oncoming vehicles as he proceeded south on Chestnut Street, police said. He failed to see a 2011 Subaru and both vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, causing substantial front-end damage to both cars.

The operator of the Subaru, Matthew Newman, 28 of Hooksett, proceeded west on Lake Avenue when the crash occurred.

Both operators refused medical treatment, and no injuries were reported, police said.

The investigation revealed Daly was at fault for the crash, police said.
