Police: Manchester man found with handgun in vacant parking lot

MANCHESTER — A Manchester man was found with a handgun that he did not have a permit for while parked in a vacant lot, police said.

An officer approached the parked car next to the Hanover Street Cumberland Farms at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. As one officer spoke to Fernely Reyes-Bonilla, 24, police said another officer noticed a black 9 mm handgun tucked into the passenger seat rear cargo pocket.

Reyes-Bonilla was taken into custody for an electronic bench warrant, and the firearm was removed from the car as evidence.

He was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit and was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail.

Reyes-Bonilla is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 13.
