Police: Manchester man crashed car while drunk, hiding in field leaving passenger, dog inside

CHESTER - A Manchester man was arrested for allegedly getting into an accident that badly injured the passenger in his car and fleeing the scene on foot - all while driving drunk.

Paul Cram, 46, was located by police hiding in a field Monday evening after the crash on Sandown Road.

According to state police, Cram was driving while intoxicated above the speed limit when he hit a tree and then left his passenger, Mark Richard, in the car suffering from a broken arm, broken leg and other serious injuries.

A dog riding in the car was also injured in the accident and found wandering around afterward.

Richard was transported to Elliott Hospital and treated for internal injuries.

Police arrested Cram for aggravated DWI, operating while habitual offender, conduct after an accident, resisting arrest and cruelty to animals.
