Police: Man kidnapped, handcuffed woman to floor in Gilford, threatened her with handgun

GILFORD - A woman told Gilford police she was kidnapped, chained to a floor and threatened with a handgun on Sunday.

She accused Russell Holliday of holding her against her will until she convinced him to undo the handcuffs and give up the gun - which gave her an opportunity to escape and go to the police.

Police said officers took a loaded .22 caliber handgun that the victim had taken from Holliday.

Gilford police and and Belknap police did not find Holliday where the victim reported being held, but he surrendered himself via telephone in Moultonborough later on.

Holliday was held on $100,000 cash bail.
