Police: Man found with pills, open containers in car after crash; charged with DUI
HOOKSETT — A 62-year-old man is facing charges after a single-car crash led police to discover pills and an open-container on his person.
Hooksett police said Bert Ford of Bedford was traveling down Central Park Drive in Hooksett on Friday when he hit a large rock and bush along the roadway.
According to a witness who had been following him for about four miles, Ford hit the curb and swerved off the road several times.
Police approached Ford who was reportedly struggling to speak and reeked of alcohol. When asked if he had taken anything, Ford pointed towards a bottle of prescribed pain pills. Police also recovered several open bottles of wine that were located within arms reach of the driver.
Ford was transported to Elliot Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and was later arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Ford's bail was posted at the hospital, and he is scheduled to appear in Hooksett District Court on May 26, 2017.
