Police: Man crashed car fleeing from officers in Manchester

MANCHESTER — A man who tried to flee from police crashed his vehicle in the process, police said.

Luis Sanchez, 39, was driving east on the Bridge Street bridge, exceeding the speed limit on Thursday at about 12:40 a.m. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed in order to get away from the officer, police said.

Sanchez eventually crashed the vehicle into a street sign in front of 482 Bartlett St. He then fled on foot into a nearby wooded area, and was later apprehended by a state trooper and his K-9 partner.

Sanchez was charged with reckless conduct, resisting arrest, conduct after an accident, disobeying a police officer, operating with a suspended license, and misuse of plates.
