Police: Man attacks off-duty detective with meat cleaver

NEW YORK, N.Y. — A man was shot outside of Penn Station by Cops after he attacked an off-duty detective with a meat cleaver, Thursday evening.

The shooting happened during rush hour around 5 p.m. after the suspect went after the officers, according to the NYPost.

The off-duty detective got into an altercation with the attacker before he was struck by the meat cleaver in the head.

The two injured officers were taken to a hospital.

The suspect, who was described by sources as an “emotionally disturbed person,” was also taken to the medical center and is in critical condition.
