Police look for former Laconia man for 10 years, capture as woman

LACONIA — Police who have been looking for a fugitive man for 10 years have found him as a woman.

Kelly Olson, 30 formerly of Laconia, was arrested for two counts of attempted robbery on Jan. 17, 2006, The Laconia Daily Sun reported.

In 2011, Olson's case was turned over to the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force after she did not show up for any scheduled court dates after allegedly stealing a carton of cigarettes and threatening a woman with a gun.

The task force and the sheriff's department were looking for her based off of a recent photograph showing Olson as a man with a blond, longish crewcut.

Manhattan, N.Y., police took Olson into custody earlier this week and notified Belknap County Chief Deputy David Perkins. Sheriff's deputies then drove to Manhattan on Tuesday to bring her back to Laconia, Perkins told The Laconia Daily Sun.

Olson is held on $3,500 cash bail.
