LACONIA — A man was arrested after he arrived at the Main Post Office, allegedly to pick up a package containing 56 grams of methamphetamine at 3:20 p.m. on Friday.

Robert Golden Jr., 37, of Laconia was arrested, and taken into custody in a joint investigation of the New Hampshire State Police and the U.S. Postal Inspector Service.

Further investigation led to the discovery of a .22 caliber handgun, a pump-action shotgun, several hundred rounds of ammunition, marijuana, five grams of heroin, a small amount of meth, several large knives, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

A large quantity of Narcan, a drug used to combat opioid overdoses, was reportedly found in Golden's apartment.

The case is still under investigation.
