PELHAM - Police say they have arrested a man who crashed his car into a fence off Sherburne Road then fled the scene, running through several people's backyards shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Michael Fitzgerald, 27, of Lowell, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence and resisting arrest after a police K9 from Salem tracked him to a location under a porch. Fitzgerald was seen by several area residents passing through their yards.

Fitzgerald is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on July 13.
