Police: Intoxicated 'vampire' attacks female Concord Co-Op employee

CONCORD — Concord Police arrested a man that attacked a woman as she was taking boxes out to the dumpster at her job at the Concord Co-Op in Concord.

Jacob May, 21, who is homeless, approached the female employee claiming that he could "save her," if she would just let him touch her. When she rejected and began to run inside, May followed her into the building. The woman called to another coworker before falling to the ground as May clutched the woman in his arms.

The male coworker immediately interrupted and attempted to punch May. This caused a fight between the two men, meanwhile another employee called the police.

A display case was knocked over during the physical dispute, breaking the two men up for a short period. Despite the man demanding that May stay away from the employees, he wouldn't, so the employee grabbed a box cutter and threatened the intruder.

May retreated to the back end of the store and ended up in the walk-in freezer. When the employee attempted to lock May in the freezer, he cut him with the box cutter in the hand.

When police arrived the two men were fighting on the floor and police initially detained both men. After learning what happened, they released the male employee.

Once police has the incident under control, May told them that he was a “vampire, ghost rider, Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid, and a leader of a band,” in addition to other comments. May told police that he had some combination of marijuana, alcohol, methamphetamine, and spice in his system at the time.

May was charged with burglary, a felony, and simple assault, a misdemeanor.

May was also reported as a suspicious person. He allegedly went up to the person at 65 Clinton Street and asked him if he felt safe and then fled. He was charged with prowling, a violation, for this incident.

May was processed at the Concord Police Department and later refused bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on November 8, 2016 at the 6th Circuit Concord District Division Court.
