Police identify man hit by vehicle on Route 3A in Bow


BOW - Police have identified the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Route 3A on Monday morning.

Brian Szarka, of no permanent address, was walking in the southbound lane and was wearing dark clothing around 5:40 a.m. when a snowplow driver swerved to avoid him, police said.

Police still do not know if the plow hit Szarka. There also was a light colored minivan behind the plow that left the scene, police said. Police do not know if the minivan was involved.

A tractor-trailer truck driving behind the minivan hit Szarka's foot. Szarka is in critical condition.

R&R Enterprise of Hooksett owns the snowplow, the tractor-trailer is owned by St. Onge Transport Inc of Newport, Vt.

At this time, it does not appear that any charges will be brought against either of the commercial vehicle operators.

Investigators are trying to identify the minivan and its operator.
