Paul Geden, 55, who was driving and his passenger, Laura Sue Clifford, 46, were the occupants of the Nissan Maxima during the fatal crash on Saturday at about 10:17 p.m., State Police Trooper Melanie Locke told the Telegraph.

Autopsies have been performed on the bodies, and the results are pending, according to officials.

An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle was most likely driving east on the Circumferential Highway, when it tried to take the off ramp towards the Daniel Webster Highway. During the turn, the car lost control, traveled over the grass median, and was launched over the east bound on-ramp and guard rail towards the Merrimack River.

The Nissan fell, and landed near the railroad tracks next to the bridge, where it immediately became totally engulfed in flames.

Police believe that speed was a major factor in this crash, but the incident is still under investigation.
