Police ID 86-year-old woman who died after being dragged by her own car in Durham
DURHAM — Police have identified the 86-year-old woman who died after suffering head injuries when the vehicle she was driving dragged her across Bagdad Road.
Janet S. Dunham was exiting her 2010 Honda and failed to put the vehicle into park just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Honda then began to roll backwards and struck the woman, police said.
Dunham was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries that she shortly succumbed to upon arrival.
This accident remains under investigation by the Durham Police with assistance from the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team.
