Police: Homeless man crashes stolen car while drunk, fights officer in Manchester

A homeless man who fought with an officer after causing a hit and run and a multi-vehicle accident in a stolen van was arrested Monday afternoon on Maple Street and Amherst Street in Manchester, according to police.

Flint E. Swett, 44, had been driving an Oklahoma-registered blue Kia, which had been reported stolen earlier from a Lake Avenue address.

The hit-and-runs happened on Mast Road earlier that same day, and witnesses described a van which matched the one that caused the Maple and Amherst crash.

Swett has been arrested, and charged with simple assault on a police officer, receiving or possession of stolen property, drunk driving, resisting arrest, and conduct after the incident.

Swett was taken to a hospital for airbag injuries following his arrest.

He was scheduled for a Tuesday arraignment.
