Police: Hollis man caught on surveillance throwing fireworks into clothing donation bin

DOVER — A Hollis man was caught on surveillance video throwing fireworks into a clothing donation box in downtown Dover.

Jonathan Richard, 23, was charged with arson - a class A misdemeanor after he allegedly started a fire in a Planet Aid donation box outside a mill building at 1 Washington St. on Oct. 10, 2016.

Sgt. Scott Pettingill said that officers were able to view surveillance footage of the area, which showed Richard throwing fireworks into the donation box, starting the fire.

Venues in the area were able to identify Richard as he is part of a band, Pettingill said.

Richard was released on $2,500 recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 8.
