Police find over 15 of the stolen flamingos on the side of the road in Weare

WEARE — Between Old Homes Day and a certain lawn decoration lining the streets, you know when you're in Weare, New Hampshire.

This weekend a celebration of the small town, full with vendors and activities, but orange flamingos continue to be talk of the town.

Police said that they found a lone flamingo on the side of the road next to white trash bags on Saturday. Inside the bags they found about 15 more orange flamingos part of a fundraiser. This after police received calls on Friday morning that flamingos were being stolen off of lawns of residents and businesses.

Abby VanDyke, 12, has recently been diagnosed with leukemia. To help cover medical expenses, orange flamingos are being sold by family friends for $10 each. The flamingos were stolen from various locations, including VanDyke's street.

Police are still investigating and anyone with information is asked to call the Weare Police Department at (603) 529-7755.
