Police find evidence of grave robbing after searching home for drugs


BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Police officers investigating allegations of drug dealing from a Bridgeport home found more than they bargained for -- human bones, including two skulls in the basement.

“The stench emanating from the basement area was overwhelming,” Bridgeport Police Capt. Armando Perez told Fox 61.

Perez said police did find drugs, but suspect Felix Delgado, who is from Cuba, explained the presence of the bones by saying he is a high priest in the religion known as Santeria.

He was already facing charges in connection with a grave robbery from a mausoleum in Worcester, Mass., that allegedly involved two full skeletons.

Last month, Amador Medina, 32, of Hartford, Conn., was arrested in the same Massachusetts grave robbing incident. A source told Fox 61 it was Medina who turned in Delgado.

Perez did not confirm that, but he said Delgado practices the dark side of Santeria, describing it as “similar to voodoo, but worse.”
