Police: Elderly man's foot 'stuck on accelerator' before crashing into NH McDonald's
PORTSMOUTH — The McDonald's that was run into by a truck Tuesday morning is back open for business.
An elderly man backed his truck into the Lafayette Road. Portsmouth Police said the man's foot most likely "got stuck on the accelerator" while he was backing up.
The man was taken to the hospital to be evaluated as a precaution due to his age. He is not being charged for the accident.
Pillars near one of the entrances were damaged as a result of the collision.
The President and Director of Operations of the Napoli Group, Jeremy Hinton, said the building inspector found no structural damage from the accident.
There is not yet plans set to fix the damage to the restaurant, but Hinton said that when the repairs do begin the store will remain open throughout.
