Police: Driver hits car in NH while looking at speedometer after leaving Walmart
ROCHESTER — A Maine driver allegedly crashed into a car in front of him as he checked his speedometer after leaving Walmart Thursday morning.
A 1996 white Isuzu van driven by Vance Stickles, 23 of Farmington, was stopped at the traffic lights heading into Rochester around 8 a.m. when a 2011 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Joseph Staples Jr., 27 of Lebanon, Maine, hit Stickles' vehicle from behind, police said.
According to the report, Staples had just left Walmart and was looking down at the speedometer when he hit Stickles' car.
Officials transported Stickles and his passenger to Frisbie Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Police said Stickles wore a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but neither his passenger nor Staples were wearing one.
