Police: Driver dead at scene of 1-car crash in Jefferson

The Associated Press

JEFFERSON (AP) — Police say a driver was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in northern New Hampshire.

New Hampshire state police say they were called to the scene of the crash on Meadows Road in Jefferson just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say a car travelling northbound went off the road and struck a telephone pole before rolling and coming to rest on its roof.

The driver — who was the only occupant in the vehicle — was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.

They are not releasing the driver's name until family members can be notified.
