Police: Dover women drug overdosed, left infant daughter unattended

DOVER — A 10-month-old infant was left by her mother at her apartment while she overdosed on drugs at another nearby residence over the weekend, police said.

Dover police along with Fire and Rescue responded to the Mineral Park complex for a medical aid call where Alicia M. Soberg, 32 of Dover, was found unconscious. Two doses of Narcan were administered to Soberg before she was revived, according to Fosters.

The officers learned from a resident of the apartment complex that Soberg's infant daughter was left unattended. The infant was found sleeping inside the home, appearing unharmed. The infant was transported to Wentworth Douglass Hospital as a precaution and is now staying with relatives.

Soberg was also transported to Wentworth Douglass Hospital and was arrested upon her release. She was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

A personal recognizance bail was set at $1,000 during an arraignment held on Monday. She was ordered by the court to have no further contact with the child.

She is scheduled for trial on Oct. 24.
