Police: Dover man ripped off city welfare department
DOVER - A city man was arrested for welfare fraud Tuesday after he allegedly stole almost $9,000 from Dover's Public Welfare Department.
Robert Dodier, 64, allegedly submitted falsified paperwork which did not disclose that he was also receiving Social Security benefits and got away with $8,890 before police caught up with him.
Dodier was also charged with unsworn falsification, a misdemeanor. Welfare fraud is a felony, according to Lt. Brant Dolleman.
Dodier, of 13 Sonnett St., was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on May 1 at Dover Circuit Court.
