Police discover 250 marijuana plants growing inside New England industrial complex
TYNGSBOROUGH — Police detectives discovered a large illegal marijuana farm inside a Tyngsborough industrial complex after a fire alarm went off in the building.
Tyngsborough firefighters responded to the alarm inside Westech Park on Westech Drive and smelled smoke inside.
Upon entering the building, firefighters found approximately 250 marijuana plants in an operation for growing and cultivating the plants, police said. No fire was found.
Police obtained a search warrant to investigate the illegal operation because there are no legally approved marijuana growing or selling operations in Tyngsborough.
"This is an illegal and dangerous drug cultivation business, and we are conducting a full and thorough investigation," Police Chief Richard Howe said.
