Police cruiser hit while assisting a stopped vehicle

NASHUA — Rachel Lessard, 47, of Nashua stopped on Saturday morning on the Everett Turnpike because she ran out of gas.

A New Hampshire state trooper stopped to assist her. While the trooper was working on the vehicle, Carolyn Mulrooney, 79, of Nashua drove into the state police cruiser which was pushed forward to the back of Lessard's vehicle.

Lessard and the trooper were not injured in the accident. and Mulrooney was transported to Saint Joseph's Hospital and treated for minor injuries. She was also cited for the move over law.

Drivers are reminded to move over when approaching highway emergencies.
