Police: Couple arrested after woman helps man conceal status as illegal immigrant

MANCHESTER — A husband and a wife were arrested Wednesday after the man allegedly obtained a driver's license and vehicle registration with false documents.

Police located a man going by the name of Luis Raphael Serrano Gonzalez, 47 of Manchester- and a woman who identified herself as Ovieda Santiago Pena, 40 of Lawrence, Mass.

Serrano Gonzalez was then identified as Elvin Alexis Pena Gonzalez, 48 of Lawrence, Mass. with the cooperation of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

What's more is the Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Pena Gonzalez was actually a citizen of the Dominican Republic who was illegally in the United States.

Santiago Pena allegedly assisted with his false identity.

State police arrested both at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Manchester.

Pena Gonzalez was charged with multiple accounts of unsworn falsification, tampering with public records, and prohibitions. He refused bail and was transported to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections. He will face trial on Oct. 24.
