Police chase ensues after man steals car in Middleton

PITTSFIELD — A man led police on a chase into Pittsfield after he reportedly stole a car from Middleton.

In order to keep the students safe during the pursuit, Pittsfield Middle High School and Pittsfield Elementary School were put into secure campus, which means that academic functions continued as normal, but the entry and exit of students and staff was monitored by the main office.

Tyler Harvey, 21, eventually crashed his car into an embankment on Catamount Road near Johnson Road. The passenger of the car, Deanna Cooke, 27, suffered injuries and was transported to Concord Hospital.

Harvey was arrested and charged with reckless conduct, placing another in danger, disobeying an officer, reckless driving and driving after suspension.
