Police charged NH man with threatening after neighbors say he brought gun to argument
MANCHESTER — A Manchester man was arrested for flashing a handgun at his neighbors during a dispute Monday evening, police said.
Police identified the man as Nicholas Chaney, 32, of Manchester, who lives in an apartment on Conant Street.
Police said Chaney heard his wife, Anna Chaney, arguing with a neighbor in the first floor common hallway. He then rushed downstairs from his second-floor bedroom.
Anna Chaney had been arguing with a 30-year-old female and her 31-year-old fiance when Nicholas Chaney joined them holding his .40 caliber handgun, police said.
When the female victim saw the gun, she immediately fled to her apartment and called the cops while her fiance continued to argue with Nicholas Chaney, police said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with both couples. They found and placed into evidence Nicholas Chaney's firearm. Police also arrested him for two counts of criminal threatening.
Nicholas Chaney was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Manchester district court.
