Police capture man in Wakefield after area-wide chase

MILTON - Multiple police departments were called out Saturday evening to find a man who'd fled police after being stopped while walking along the Spaulding Turnpike. He was later captured in Wakefield.

Steven Grubisa, 25, of Wolfeboro was charged with resisting arrest and had two prior warrants for his arrest from other agencies, according to police.

One officer was injured during the chase, suffering a broken arm, and was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Police say the incident started just after 5 p.m. when a Milton officer saw Grubisa walking just north of Exit 17. He stopped Grubisa but the man broke free as the officer was trying to check him for weapons.

Milton police called for assistance and started an area-wide search for Grubisa that involved the state police, Wakefield, Farmington, Middleton, New Durham, Effingham and Rochester police departments along with the Carroll County Sherriff's Office.

Grubisa was located in a field in Wakefield and persuaded to turn himself in after speaking with an Ossipee officer on the phone.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at the Rochester District Court.
