Police arrest New England man suspected of operating cocaine drug ring

LOWELL, Mass. — More than 80 grams of suspected cocaine, $15,000 in cash and drug paraphernalia was recovered by police after arresting a man who had multiple outstanding warrants.

Zachary Laporte, 21 of Lowell, Mass., attempted to flee the resident to avoid being arrested, police said.

An investigation revealed what was believed to be a cocaine distribution operation being operated by Laporte.

He was charged with trafficking cocaine over 36 grams, trafficking cocaine in a school zone, warrant for possession of a class B substance out of Lowell, Mass. and a default warrant for assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon out of Chelmsford, Mass.

Laporte appeared in jail Tuesday morning.
