Police arrest Laconia man in early morning stabbing
LACONIA — A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing that occurred at the intersection of McGrath and Oak Street on Thursday morning.
At around 5 a.m. Thursday police responded to the report of a stabbing. When they arrived they learned that Joshua Joyce, 20, allegedly stabbed a man before being chased by the victim's girlfriend. Joyce fled on foot to an area behind the Laconia Middle School.
The man was stabbed multiple times and was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Joyce and the victim did not know each other, police said..
Police arrested Joyce behind the school and have charged him with first-degree assault and criminal threatening.
Joyce refused bail and was transported to the Belknap County jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Thursday in Belknap County Superior Court.
