Police arrest 2 on outstanding warrants, say 1 attempted to dispose of crack
MANCHESTER — Two people were arrested on outstanding drug-related warrants after police searched an apartment early Thursday morning.
Manchester police said they executed a search warrant at an apartment on Kimball Street around 6 a.m.
Once inside, they said they found Veronica Lara-Merrell, 25, and Idris Terrell, 24, both of whom had outstanding drug-related warrants.
An officer outside of the apartment building observed Terrell drop a plastic bag from the second story window as SWAT officers breached the apartment door.
Officers said they retrieved the plastic bag as soon the residents were secured and discovered it contained 22 grams of crack cocaine. They also located an unloaded 9mm handgun inside a plastic box in the bedroom with about 50 9mm rounds next to it, police said.
In addition to the outstanding warrant, Terrell was charged with falsifying physical evidence, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute. He was scheduled to appear in Manchester district court Friday.
Lara-Merrell was released on $5,000 cash or surety and is scheduled to appear in Manchester district court Aug. 3.
