Police accuse teen of driving 111 mph in 55 zone on Route 101 in Hampton

HAMPTON — An 18-year-old from Manchester is now facing a reckless operation charge after police said he was driving 111 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 101 eastbound on Wednesday, July 27.

Roobens Maurice was initially cited for speeding on scene, but the alleged offense was determined to be an act of reckless conduct after further review by the Hampton Police Department. As a result, a warrant for Maurice's arrest was issued and he turned himself in.

The violation-level offense Maurice faces is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000. He was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

This is the second arrest police have made on the Seacoast in the last eight days where drivers have been accused of going over 100 mph.
