Police: Abducted New England woman OK after cops chase attacker's car

The Associated Press

ROCKLAND, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a Maine man abducted a woman off a street and later tried to push her out of his vehicle while being pursued by police.

Shane Hall, 29 of Portland, was charged with felony kidnapping and eluding an officer in the Wednesday night incident.

Police say the woman told them a masked man attacked her in Rockland. She told police she passed out and later woke up in the passenger seat of his vehicle.

A chase ensued when Hall allegedly refused to stop for an officer who says he had seen Hall driving erratically. Police say the woman inside managed to call 911 as Hall tried to force her out of the vehicle.

Police say Hall lost control and crashed. The woman wasn't badly hurt.
