Police: 2-year-old suffers injuries in drive-by shooting
The Associated Press
BOSTON (AP) — Boston police say a 2-year-old girl is being treated for hand and leg injuries after a drive-by shooting.
Police say the child was in a car seat in the back of a vehicle when a man on a scooter drove by and shot at her father. It happened Saturday afternoon in the city's Roxbury neighborhood.
Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans tells the Boston Globe that the girl is expected to survive. He says she suffered a "through and through wound that didn't hit anything" vital.
Evans says the girl's father took her to the hospital. He says the father is well known to police and is involved in gang activity. The commissioner says the father isn't cooperating with the police investigation.
The father and child were not identified.
