Police: 2 teens arrested on drug charges, loitering after one flees scene
MANCHESTER — Police arrested two men on several charges after they attempted to stop them near a recovery center in Manchester, but one of the suspects tried to flee.
Manchester officers were patrolling the area of Wilson and Valley Street around 4:05 a.m. when they saw Chad Nagy, 18 of Manchester, and Matthew Cotoni, 18 of Laconia, running southerly from Valley Street towards the back of the Hope for New Hampshire Recovery Center.
The officers approached the young men and identified themselves as officers and told the men to stop, police said. Nagy complied, while Cotoni fled on foot.
One of the officers spoke with Nagy, while the other chased Cotoni until catching up with him in front of the recovery center.
The business was closed at the time the subjects were located, so they had no legitimate purpose to be there, according to police.
Cotoni and Nagy were both in possession of marijuana, so they were both charged with possession of a controlled drug, as well as loitering/prowling, both misdemeanors.
Cotoni was additionally charged with resisting arrest/detention for originally fleeing. He also has an outstanding electronic bench warrant out of Laconia.
Nagy was additionally charged with violation of bail and an electronic bench warrant for conduct after an accident.
The two men were transported to police headquarters.
Nagy is currently being held without bail pending a bail hearing on Wednesday and Cotoni was arraigned Tuesday and released on $500 cash bail.
