Police: 2 arrested in Manchester after being stopped for carrying open containers

MANCHESTER - Police officers said they had to subdue a drunk man who attacked them near Hayward Street on Friday night.

The officers say they saw two men, Robert Drake and and Raymond Lavigne, drinking beers while walking.

Police said when officers first asked them to stop and throw out the beer, the men refused.

Drake refused, threw his beer on the ground, dropped into a "boxer's stance," and challenged the officers to a fight, according to police.

Though given chances to leave the scene, Lavigne remained and harassed the officers.

Drake was charged with resisting arrest, criminal threatening, and violating conditions of bail.

Lavigne was charged with disorderly conduct.
