MANCHESTER — Two men were arrested Sunday night after police found more than a pound of marijuana in their vehicle.
Manchester police said around 9:20 p.m. an officer saw two men sitting in a Honda Accord in the back of the parking lot at Thibeault Field. The officer said he smelled burnt marijuana as he approached the vehicle, and the driver quickly exited the car and began pacing back and forth.
The officer identified the operator as Dario Jimenez, 23, of Manchester, and his passenger as Robert Young, 22, of Manchester. Police said Young handed the officer a small zip lock bag containing 4.4 grams of marijuana after he asked if they had any drugs inside the vehicle.
The officer continued speaking with Jimenez as additional officers and a K-9 arrived on scene.
Officers conducted an open-air search of the vehicle and Jimenez opened the trunk, showing them a pillow case containing almost 1.3 pounds of marijuana, police said.
Officers said they also located an additional 53 grams of marijuana in two separate mason jars and 43.5 grams of marijuana inside of a cigar box.
Overall, police said Jimenez was in possession of approximately 1½ pounds of marijuana, so he was arrested and charged with felony possession of controlled drug with intent to sell.
Jimenez posted his $3,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on Sept. 14.
Young was charged with misdemeanor possession of controlled drug and was also placed into custody without incident. He was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the Manchester district court on Oct. 5.
