Plaistow police seek suspect who stole money and medicine from hospitalized woman

PLAISTOW - Police are looking for a suspect who took medication and money from an apartment belonging to an elderly woman, who was taken to the hospital for a medical problem.

According to the Union Leader, police and emergency responders were called to the address on Chandler Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

The break-in was discovered when the woman's son arrived after being notified of an emergency involving his 76-year-old mother. Police say it appears the items were stolen after she was taken to the hospital and before her son arrived.

In addition to taking medication and grocery money, police say it appears the thief rummaged through drawer in her bedroom and may have stolen checks.

“We’re looking at all angles, including who might have witnessed the elderly victim being transported to the hospital,” Police Chief Kathleen Jones said.

Anyone with information on the burglary is encouraged to contact Plaistow police at 382-1200.
