PORTSMOUTH - A driver is dead after a crash into the median Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 95 near Exit 4.
Police said Rodney Hoverson, 54 of Maine, was driving northbound on I-95 when his 2003 Mitsubishi Montero went off the left side of the road and then back into traffic.
As he tried to regain control, the car flipped several times into the median, stopping just short of of the breakdown lane of I-95 southbound.
Police said Hoverson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.
He was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he died from his injuries.
A passenger who was wearing his seatbelt was transported to the hospital with multiple non-life threatening injuries.
The accident caused delays for more than two hours during rush hour after the left two lanes of I-95 northbound and the left travel lane of I-95 southbound were closed .
Police said speed and impairment could be factors in the accident.
This accident is still under investigation.
