PHOTO: Jellyfish spotted in Kittery


KITTERY - A group of jellyfish were seen floating in the a river on the N.H./Maine border Sunday, according to an NH1 viewer who sent in photos.

The jellyfish were varied in size and were seen off Courtney Firestine's dock on the Piscataqua River in Kittery.

Firestine said she was surprised to see the jellyfish, and that she hasn't seen them in the area near her home in the past.

Fire departments in Kittery, Hampton and Rye said they had not received any calls about swimmers or fishermen being stung as of Sunday evening.
