Manchester Water Works says a 24 inch water main burst early this morning. Officials are asking Manchester residents to only use water for emergencies to conserve as much as possible throughout the day.

Crews on scene told NH1 News that the hole was "20 by 30" when they arrived and this is what they call "a nightmare" break.

Water mains in the area have been shut off including: Drew Avenue, Morse Road, Dwight Street, Windsor Avenue, Effel Avenue, Christy Lane and Hobb Way. Bridge Street Extension is closed to traffic between Mission Avenue and Beaver Street. Manchester Water Works says the repairs could take all day.

NH1 News will post updates as they become available.
