A massive water main break on Bridge Street Extension between Mission Avenue and Christy Lane has sent thousand of gallons of water rushing through the street and causing serious damage to the road.

Officials urge Manchester residents to conserve their water use for emergencies only.

Crews on the scene are describing the leak as a "nightmare" break.

Water mains in the area have been shut off including: Drew Avenue, Morse Road, Dwight Street, Windsor Avenue, Effel Avenue, Christy Lane and Hobb Way. Bridge Street Extension is closed to traffic between Mission Avenue and Beaver Street. Manchester Water Works says the repairs could take all day.
