BOSTON, Mass. - The jury found a 16-year-old Massachusetts student guilty of first-degree murder.
Philip Chism was accused of murdering Colleen Ritzer, a 24-year-old high school teacher in Oct. 2013, and was also charged with aggravated rape and robbery.
Chism was found guilty one on count of aggravated rape and robbery charges.
Prosecutors said Chism followed Ritzer into the girl's bathroom at Danvers High School, killed her with a box cutter before transporting her body to the woods and violating her.
A defense attorney said Chism suffered from a psychotic disorder and was responding to voices in his head at the time of the killing.
A judge found Chism competent to stand trial.
The jury began deliberating Monday.
