Pelham purchases 72 acres to protect open land
PELHAM — The town has agreed to buy 72 acres of land that is currently a golf course as part of an effort to protect open land from possible development, according to the Union Leader.
The Pine Valley Golf Club land will allow the club's owners to continue operating for another decade as they lease 42 acres of the property from the town. The other 30 acres are wooded and will join the Peabody Town Forest, according to the Conservation Commission Chairman, Paul Gagnon.
The town is paying $750,000 with an additional $25,000 annually waived in property taxes from the golf course over the next ten years.
