Pedestrian suffers head injury after being hit by car in Rochester

ROCHESTER - A 51-year-old pedestrian was injured after being struck by a car while walking in the crosswalk at Columbus Avenue.

Police say Theodore Blackey of Rochester was hit by a car coming out of the Walgreens parking lot around 11:40 a.m. on Saturday.

The driver of the car was 75-year-old Ronald Nichols of East Rochester. His car sustained minor damage to a side mirror where it hit Blackey and knocked him to the ground.

Blackey was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with a head injury, abrasions and bruising and was subsequently transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Police are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to call Officer Frank Porfido at the Rochester Police Department at 330-7128.
