CONCORD - Chris Christie's coming back to New Hampshire on the eve of Election Day.
The New Jersey governor and chairman of the Republican Governors Association will campaign with Granite State GOP gubernatorial nominee Walt Havenstein Monday afternoon at a rally in New London, New Hampshire, according to a release Wednesday evening from the RGA.
While it's the job of an RGA chairman to crisscross the country to campaign for and raise money for Republican gubernatorial candidates and GOP governors running for re-election, it's Christie's multiple stops this summer and autumn in two states in particular that are raising eyebrows.
Christie's seriously thinking of running for the White House in 2016, and Monday's stop-over in New Hampshire will be Christie's fifth visit to the first-in-the-nation primary state since June. And while New Hampshire's gubernatorial battle between Havenstein and Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan has become competitive, the governor's race in Iowa is not.
Christie returns to the Hawkeye State Thursday to campaign for Republican Gov. Terry Branstad, who's far ahead of his Democratic challenger, according to the latest public opinion surveys. It will be Christie's fourth visit in recent months to Iowa, which kicks off the presidential caucus and primary calendar.
