Patriots talk with ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates

CONCORD - The Patriots have what it takes to repeat this past season, despite the court case between Tom Brady and the NFL, according to ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates.

"Both sides have dug their heels in and made it abundantly clear how they feel about their stances in this matter. For the league it would be some sort of admission of guilt from Tom Brady, and for Tom Brady it would be some sort of punishment that does not involve a suspension," said Yates.

He also talked about Tom Brady's season ahead.

"No it doesn't effect anything in terms of Tom Brady's preparation this off-season. But, we all know this, if he is not on the field then it doesn't matter who the backup quarterback is," said Yates.

And most importantly Yates predicts the Patriots will be able to repeat this season.

"The Patriots ultimately have the pieces to get into the playoffs. They certainly should be considered one of the five or six true contenders for a Super Bowl right now," said Yates.

Yates spent two seasons with the Chiefs, and four summers interning with the Patriots.

He also covered the Patriots for ESPN Boston.
