Patriots take early 7-3 lead over Colts
The Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Jonas Gray scored on a 4-yard run to help the New England Patriots to a 7-3 lead over the Indianapolis Colts after one quarter on Sunday night.
Julian Edelman's 25-yard run set up Gray's touchdown with 8:37 left.
Adam Vinatieri got Indianapolis on the board with a 31-yard field goal with 4:19 remaining in the period.
Vinatieri's 27th field goal of the season put him in the 2,100-point club. He needs five points to break the NFL record for most seasons with 100 points.
Indy went three-and-out on its opening drive and had a penalty to start the second possession before Andrew Luck threw passes of 11, 13 and 46 yards to Reggie Wayne leading up to Vinatieri's field goal.
Luck is looking for his first win against New England after dropping his first two games against the Patriots, including a 21-point loss in the playoffs last year.
Brady's first career start came against Indy back in 2001. He was 11-4 against the Colts heading into the game.
Indianapolis has won six of its last seven and entered the weekend with the NFL's top offense, but the Patriots have won five straight, averaging more than 40 points in those wins.
Another win would give New England its 14th consecutive non-losing season.
